Can you provide the output of lsmod and dmesg with the laptop attached to the dock and 1.173.3 installed? I still can't see how any of the updates between those versions are to files which would be used by your laptop.
For reference, here is is the list of files added or updated between 1.173.2 and 1.173.3. The amdgpu files won't be used at all by the bionic 4.15 kernel, but you have Intel graphics hardware anyway. You do have an Intel wireless card, but not one which uses the wireless firmware which was updated.
