It appears that Xorg can't get any resolution information from your monitor, which is why it is using the default resolution of 1024x768.
Please run this command on the machine and send us the output: cat /sys/class/drm/*/edid If things are working then you will see junk on the screen :) ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Summary changed: - my ubuntu doesnt show resolution above 1024X800 + my ubuntu doesnt show resolution above 1024x768 ** Package changed: ubuntu => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - my ubuntu doesnt show resolution above 1024x768 + [SKL] My ubuntu doesn't show resolution above 1024x768 ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1799035 Title: [SKL] My ubuntu doesn't show resolution above 1024x768 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: my ubuntu doesn't show resolution above 1024X800 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-36.39-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-36-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.4 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sun Oct 21 14:35:55 2018 DistUpgraded: 2018-05-13 17:09:57,832 DEBUG icon theme changed, re-reading DistroCodename: bionic DistroVariant: ubuntu GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 510 [8086:1902] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd HD Graphics 510 [1458:d000] InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-05-01 (537 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" - Release amd64 (20170412) Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:8179 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
