Title:
Acer Aspire ES-512 cannot hibernate/suspend on newer kernels than 3.17
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
On my Acer Aspire ES-512 suspend as well as hibernate freeze the
kubuntu 18.04 that I installed on a 18G deleted partition. Apparently,
suspend/hibernate succeed partially only, so that it cannot resume.
The latest kernel where suspend/hibernate work is 3.17, which however
has problems with touchpad. That is, I use 3.16.57. From 3.18 and all
later kernels suspend/hibernate does not work.
It does not help:
- to change /etc/default/grup adding RESUME=UUID=<uuid of swap> or
nouveau.modeset=0 to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX.
- to enable hibernate in
/var/lib/polkit-1/localauthority/10-vendor.d/com.ubuntu.desktop.pkla.
- to use Feng's fixed kernel.
- /sys/power/ files seems to be alright: cat disk mem_sleep state
[platform] shutdown reboot suspend test_resume
s2idle [deep]
freeze mem disk

- busctl call org.freedesktop.login1 /org/freedesktop/login1
org.freedesktop.login1.Manager CanSuspend: s "yes"
If anyone want additional information, just let me know.
