Public bug reported:
[Impact]
There are several stability issues with the i2c-xlp9xxx that cause
communication issues between the host and the BMC, leading to unpredictable
results when the ipmi-ssif module tries to enumerate the device (/dev/ipmi0).
[Test Case]
Reboot the system several times, each time verifying that /dev/ipmi0 is present
and functional (e.g. using 'sudo ipmitool lan print').
[Regression Risk]
All patches are clean cherry picks from upstream, restricted to a driver that
is only used on this platform in Ubuntu (also used on some MIPS platforms, for
which we have no port).
