Public bug reported: When playing audio via HDMI, I get very loud pops and/or periods of silence. The frequency of this behaviour seems to go way up while playing video with a lot of motion, and especially YouTube videos. I can reliably reproduce the problem by playing the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt9UZo32KMk and maximising/minimising the video size rapidly.
Testing older kernels, I can reproduce the problem on the linux- image-4.10.0-041000rc1-generic from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/, but the previous version, linux- image-4.9.71-040971-generic, plays audio without any problems. The problem didn't exist on 17.04; it only started happening after I upgraded to 17.10. (I know 17.04 had a 4.10 kernel; I'm at a loss to explain the difference unless the zesty kernel was patched.)
