I've last used it a couple of days ago (2017/08/26). Today when I checked the system settings, all settings related to the touchpad have vanished. External mouse works properly though. I've tried few commands but it seems that the system doesn't recognize the touchpad anymore: $ xinput --list ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ Microsoft Microsoft 5-Button Mouse with IntelliEye(TM) id=10 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=8 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Sleep Button id=9 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Lenovo EasyCamera id=11 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Ideapad extra buttons id=12 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=13 [slave keyboard (3)] Note: The entry "Microsoft... Mouse..." the mouse I'm using as workaround OS and kernel versions: $ uname -amoving Linux zoua-machine 4.10.0-32-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Tue Aug 8 12:10:06 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ cat /etc/*release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=17.04 As per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection#generalinfo I've attached the /proc/bus/input/devices the dmeg and the Xorg.0.log As for the context, a couple of days ago I've disabled the touchpad "tap to click" feature because my hands kept touching it while typing causing the cursor to fly from line to line... On the next login the touchpad stopped working and disappeared from system settings. --- ApportVersion: 2.20.4-0ubuntu4.5 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: zouaghi 1861 F...m pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: zouaghi 1861 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity:Unity7 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=7c2973ee-463c-46cb-8c11-059675c15466 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-08-18 (9 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" - Release amd64 (20170412) Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 004: ID 8087:0a2a Intel Corp.
