Public bug reported:

In my Lenovo ideapad 700, the touchpad is not working anymore, It's
completely unresponsive. I've last used it a couple of days ago
(2017/08/26).

Today when I checked the system settings, all settings related to the
touchpad have vanished. External mouse works properly though. I've tried
few commands but it seems that the system doesn't recognize the touchpad
anymore:

 $ xinput --list

OS and kernel versions:
$ uname -amoving

As per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection#generalinfo
I've attached the /proc/bus/input/devices the dmeg and the Xorg.0.log

As for the context, a couple of days ago I've disabled the touchpad "tap
to click" feature because my hands kept touching it while typing causing
the cursor to fly from line to line... On the next login the touchpad
stopped working and disappeared from system settings.
