10ec:8821 [Asus X555L] RTL8821AE doesn't work after some minutes.

Bug description:
My laptop is an ASUS X555L and I have a wireless card RTL8821AE. When WiFi
connected via 802.11b to my Vodafone router:
Product type HG658c
Hardware version HG658BZV VER.A
Software version V100R001C172B227
after a few minutes it hangs and doesn't let me surf internet although
it shows connected. With Windows 10 on the same laptop the WiFi works
seamlessly.
I tried the following but it didn't improve the situation:
+ Disabling power management:
iwconfig
wlp3s0 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:"internet"

+ Changing WiFi to 802.11g or 802.11n.
+ Changing encryption type from WPA-PSK to none.
+ Bringing the laptop in the same room as the AP with no obstructions in
between.
