the newer firmware (start.elf,fixup.dat and bootcode.bin) hard-requires 0x02000000 because it initializes the hardware differently in the newer version...

Unfortunately one of the latest kernel updates broke the installation and I found out the same happened for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS - and therefore I can no longer run up-to-date Ubuntu installation (with updated kernel) on my RPI.
