You have been subscribed to a public bug: The touchpad does not work as expected. It can't be enabled or disabled through FN+F11 combination.
The light (in the pad) always turns on, regardless of its non functionality. The problem seems related to bug #1523738, and some say solution #24 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1523738/comments/24) works, but it didn't for me. I'm not even sure if it is the same as the version of the hardware is different.
