I just had a kernel panic with ath9k. The odd thing about it is that the trace made mention of appleir and "up" funtionality despite not touching the remote. It ocurred while closing off Parole.

This is reproducible using mplayer. I expect to use the infrared remote successfully, without resulting in a kernel panic. Audio loops like a scratched record, computer hard locks so that the keyboard becomes entirely unresponsive: no escaping to a tty, keyboard capslock doesn't light up, screen goes to tty1 and outputs "Kernel Panic --not syncing fatal exception in interrupt", and SysRq-cntrl-alt-r does not reboot the computer. WORKAROUND: sudo rmmod ath5k Don't use the remote ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: linux-image-3.11.0-4-generic 3.11.0-4.9 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-4.9-generic 3.11.0-rc7 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-4-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.12.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: mo 3994 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: mo 3525 F.... volumeicon mo 3994 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/pcmC0D0c: mo 3994 F...m pulseaudio Date: Sat Sep 7 02:35:53 2013 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=971dcaf3-f640-4d1c-9cb6-ea8eba0cab54 InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-09-05 (733 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) MachineType: Apple Computer, Inc.
