Workaround: Create the following script: gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons true sleep 2 gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons false
Explanation: The first line shows both wallpaper and icons. The second line waits until wallpaper is fully loaded. Inserting 1 second here is not enough and either value will not affect system's booting time. Third line hides the icons, but not the wallpaper. Open "Startup Applications" by typing the program's name in the launcher and run the script from there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1550680 Title: Setting org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons to false removes wallpaper Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons to false.
