I followed your advice and updated my BIOS. For now, I haven't encountered the WiFi problem anymore but this might just be a random fact. If I ever encounter the issue again, I will report back! It occurs without a recognisable pattern. Sometimes on a fresh boot. Sometimes on resume from suspend. In the indicator icon context menu, networking and wifi is enabled but greyed out. Switching off/on the Wifi using the hardware switch doesn't solve the problem. The only working solution is to do a fresh reboot. Thank you for any possible help!
