I have discovered this morning that I am able to freeze the video temporarily by going to Evolution and using the scroll wheel to scroll up and down the list of messages the clock will freeze and the screen will flash. This is hard to duplicate however as it only happens so often. I've tried just now to make it happen to no avail. When this is happening I can still switch to a different window however the clock is still frozen. I've noticed that the 'flashing' will sometimes happen when scrolling through posts in Facebook or Twitter using Firefox but the clock doesn't seem to freeze.

Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: What I expect to happen is the video to not freeze every so often. What happened is that the video froze. This has been going on for over a year. It doesn't matter if I have any applications open such as Evolution or Firefox. It could happen any time during the day when I'm working on the computer or during the night when it's the most idle. Once the video freezes the cursor can still be moved around the desktop however clicking on anything does not work. During this time all background process and cronjobs continue to run. --- ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.13 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: chris 2095 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=bb329dc0-0642-4b6a-876a-12c2f02fb7f6 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-10-24 (332 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140417) IwConfig: eth0 no wireless extensions. lo no wireless extensions.
