EDIT to #9:
Turns-out that a better solution to my issue is to leave intel_pstate enabled(per default) and add: i915_semaphores=1 to my kernel boot cmdline. Working well so far. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1451085 Title: Ivy Bridge laptop overheats with intel_pstate enabled Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Running 'cpupower frequency-info' shows all my cores running at 2.8GHz constantly, despite being mostly idle. My laptop was using the intel_pstate module for CPU frequency governing. I tried switching between powersave and performance governors but they both showed the same issue. WORKAROUND: Add intel_pstate=disabled to my kernel command line.
