Problem with touchpad and moving mouse pointer

i have ASUS X550LD. the machine had windows 8 and i installed ubuntu
14.04 and now my touchpad doesnt work and only works with my usb
mouse. but even then the mouse pointer keeps moving to left some 10
pixels every 5 seconds.
This annoying as I am not able to work effectively
