Hi, Christopher M. Penalver I just upgraded my r8168 driver to realtek's latest driver(8.040), which could be downloaded from "http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false". And after this upgrade, my computer ran for nearly 2 hours and hasn't met the network broken problem any more.
Regarding the r8168's driver in Ubuntu repository is 8.037, I think it needs to be updated in Ubuntu's repository. Therefore, I don't think it's necessary to try the upstream kernel any more. Please let me know if you have more concerns about this. Thanks.
