Title:
Realtek RTL8723BE drops connection until reboot
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
There are a lot of bugs submitted about this module, but it seems like
none of them provides any useful informations or workarounds.
I have a Lenovo B5400 laptop with RTL8723BE wireless module. The internet
connection constantly getting lost after a random duration (usually after 20-30
minutes). The NetworkManager applet does not recognize it (still looks like i
have a connection), but when I try do disconnect and connect again, there is
only one useful information I can find in dmesg:
"wlan0: deauthenticating from [ap mac address] by local choice (Reason:
3=DEAUTH_LEAVING)"
Reinserting the driver (modprobe -r rtl8723be and modprobe rtl8723) used to
be my only workaround, but it does not work anymore and now I have to reboot.
I am pretty sure this bug affects many people as we can see here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1442908
or here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1240940
Also I have found an interesting response from lwfinger's github repository
about similar issue:
"I have no idea what Ubuntu is doing with their kernels and why it is now
failing; however, some of Ubuntu's practices have caused me to stop supporting
anyone that uses Ubuntu. Sorry, but they were wasting too much of my time. As a
volunteer, I could see no reason to continue beating my head against the wall.
Switch back to the older version of Ubintu's kernel."

Feel free to ask me for any additonal informations if needed. I would
really like to finally see this driver working properly.
