Bug description:
Closing the laptop lid appears to put the laptop in suspend mode. But
it will not wake up. The same thing occurs if pm-hibernate is used
from the command line. I have been using various forms of Ubuntu and
Kubuntu on this laptop for many years and never had a problem until
recently (about a month ago) so the likely culprit was in a recent
kernel update.
