Shutdown doesn't complete Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Version: Ubuntu 11.10 Release 11.10 Package Responsible: Unknown. Possibly the kernel or pm-utils What was expected: System resumes normally after suspend. What happened: When resume is triggered (either by lid opening or key-press) Fan speeds up, and the system appears to freeze. I have to manually power-off (by holding down the power key) and reboot. When the system freezes during resume, emergency key-combinations like ctrl+alt+delete, ctrl+alt+backspace, ctrl+alt+printscr+K dont work. And not even the ctrl+alt+printscr+ R,E,I,S,U,B sequence. Frequency: Everytime i resume Additional Note: Resume worked a while ago, its a recent happening. The changes i made were: Installed the fglrx driver, and uninstalled it. Deepin software center performed an auto-update (possibly) Not sure what updates were applied. Steps to reproduce: 1) Suspend the system 2) Wait for a while after the power button starts blinking 3) Press any key Alternately: 1) Close the lid 2) wait for a while 3) Open the lid. Specifications of my laptop: Manufacturer :HP Series: Pavilion g6 Processor: Intel i5 Graphic card: AMD Raedon (Not sure of further details) Kernel version: 3.0.0-16 (GRUB entry has this. Must be kernel version) Additional Notes: Shutdown freezes the system with ubuntu logo on screen On starting, BIOS shows a thermal shutdown warning ( It was there since i installed ubuntu. Shouldn't be related.) On resume, capslock led is on all the time. LED at network port (Lan cable) blinks. the red-one, presumably indicating data transfer. there's also a white one thats always on when the cable is connected. I use "acpi_backlight=vendor pcie_aspm=force" to make brightness control work and to optimize power consumption.
