Public bug reported: I have tested live DVD and installed versions of Kubuntu 14.10, both 32 bit and 64 bit on a PC with Realtek GbE LAN chipset RTL 8111/8168/8411. Using the 64bit versions networking is not available. Using the 32 bit versions it 'just works'.
Also tested live DVD version of KaOS (64bit). That doesn't work either, so I suspect KDE issue? Reported to KDE, but they responded hardware driver issues should go to distro... ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1417538 Title: Realtek network driver fail in 64bit versions Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have tested live DVD and installed versions of Kubuntu 14.10, both 32 bit and 64 bit on a PC with Realtek GbE LAN chipset RTL 8111/8168/8411.
