Volos Rex, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number> Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.11-rc5 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Description changed: It would seem that when ever I use the CD/DVD player, or even just open or close it, the built in touch pad becomes erratic and unresponsive. If a cd is actually being utilised it will not only "dance" around the screen but click. Very difficult to work around. Can disable the touchpad and works fine with USB mouse, but that is not ideal in many of the settings I am trying to use the computer in. Used ubuntu-bug linux, let me know if that transmission didn't work. - Some more info on the hardware: - description: Notebook - product: U50F () - vendor: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - version: 1.0 - serial: A1N0AS52768704 - width: 64 bits - capabilities: smbios-2.6 dmi-2.6 vsyscall64 vsyscall32 - configuration: - boot = normal - chassis = notebook =============== - id: + id: cdrom description: DVD-RAM writer product: DVD-RAM UJ892AS vendor: MATSHITA - physical id: + physical id: 1 - bus info: + bus info: scsi@1:0.0.0 - logical name: + logical name: /dev/cdrom - logical name: + logical name: /dev/cdrw - logical name: + logical name: /dev/dvd - logical name: + logical name: /dev/dvdrw - logical name: + logical name: /dev/scd0 - logical name: + logical name: /dev/sr0 version: 1.00 capabilities: removable audio cd-r cd-rw dvd dvd-r dvd-ram - configuration: + configuration: ansiversion = 5 status = open [note when I ran lshw, the tray was closed, don't know if that matters] - ============== - sudo lshw -c input brings up nothing, nor could I find any input devices listed. - ============== - If CD/DVD player is not manipulated mouse works fine and is proper controlled through system settings - Thanks!
