Window Layout not recalled in Ubuntu-Gnome

I posted this on the forum, so apologies to those you have read it 
there, but it is very frustrating so I'm re posting here in case anyone 
can help!

I have a new installation of Ubuntu-Gnome 16.04 but it seems that 
Kdenlive is not recalling the saved window layout with projects.
I can save and load preset layouts OK but my layout is not recalled 
when I reopen a project.
Can anyone help or advise?
