Kdenlive should *not* freeze if the problem is to do with piave. If it does then there is a problem somewhere. Though I'd have liked to add keybaord shortcuts this week, the laptop I am currently developing on doesn't have a working build of piave yet (I need to install a few development packages), so I am tidying up the ways in which kdenlive reacts when a renderer isn't present. Amongst other things that I noticed, I have stopped messages from sent to the renderer if the renderer is not running :-) I think this might solve some problems that have been experienced, I'll commit at the weekend hopefully.
