Thanks, Duncan. Those are all helpful suggestions. I am running Arch. I did not make any changes to any plasmoids or config files when this started. I did run the Arch updates (and I made the permission changes mentioned). I'm happy to hear your feedback regarding permissions -- it helps me know where to focus.
