Hey Mark,

Hmmm, why don't you instead RDP directly to the VM?  Oracle VirtualBox
supports RDP.  You could set up a tunnel to do this connection
securely.

As for the ssh tunnel, that is an attractive idea but I wonder if it
provides any better performance?

The tunnel wasn't for performance but for security.  If you're going
across `the wire', you want to encrypt your traffic.  I would.  :)
