VLC. I used GStreamer before, but there is a bug with it making Amarok
mess up the playing order, adn the suggestion is to use VLC instead.

Bingo! I tried with my test user, in parallel to the running session, and
he HAS the device. Oh dear, I really should have done this before posting
here, sorry for the noise.

So I have no solution yet, and I have too much stuff open to quickly log
out and in again, but I guess there's a good chance that removing the
kmix config files will make it work again.
