Bug ID: 285619 Summary: www/falkon Product: Ports & Packages Version: Latest Hardware: amd64 OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: Individual Port(s) Assignee: k...@freebsd.org Reporter: jbt...@iherebuywisely.com Flags: maintainer-feedback?(k...@freebsd.org) Assignee: k...@freebsd.org The 2025 switch from Qt5 to Qt6 has disabled Falkon here. A gdb on the .core file from the Qt6 version did not give me enough information to try to begin to fix it. ................. The Qt5 binary on the machine fails to to run with a QCodeApplication error. Stackoverflow on similar issues suggest using kreadconfig6 or kwriteconfig6 to alter some setting in a config file, but I cannot find which file those commands are to take as a parameter as I am not running a KDE desktop per se and thus have no kde related widgets in the window manager display or the tray. ................ I have run 'strings' on each binary [ the qt5 one that runs on a system still of jan 2025 and without an upgraded KDE of early feb 2025 ] and the present-day one and there are many differences between the outputs. =========================== ldd shows over 120 libraries on which falkon depends. Almost all in /usr/local/lib, some were in qt5 now in qt6, slight chance one or more of them in /usr/local/lib were compiled against a removed security/boringssl [ which I deleted after falkon kept crashing ] in order to enable www/falkon to build locally, but which, now built in ports, still crashes before start, or, sometimes shows a falkon:restore blank page for a few seconds then crashes. and a resinstall of ALL such /usr/local/lib libraries might fix the issue, but I have doubts that would work. .................... As falkon ran snappier than firefox does, and plays music which firefox cannot, here, [ another issue] I would like to see the port, www/falkon, fixed. ............... I hesitate to remove qt5 to try to fix things, www/otter-browser depends on it, and that browser still runs youtube with music vs without sound for which I use it very often .... I have searched at kde.org and falkon.org and not found any reports duplicating this issue specifically, unaware which URL should receive this bug complaint if it cannot be resolved thusly because it may affect only me... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
