J. B. <jbt...@iherebuywisely.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |jbt...@iherebuywisely.com --- Comment #1 from J. B. <jbt...@iherebuywisely.com> --- The 2025 switch from Qt5 to Qt6 has disabled Falkon here. A gdb on the .core file from the Qt6 version did not give me enough information to try to begin to fix it. ................. The Qt5 binary on the machine fails to to run with a QCodeApplication error. Stackoverflow on similar issues suggest using kreadconfig6 or kwriteconfig6 to alter some setting in a config file, but I cannot find which file those commands are to take as an arguement as I am not running a KDE desktop per se and thus have no kde related widgets in the window manager display or the tray. ................ I could run 'strings' on each binary [ the qt5 one that runs on a system still of jan 2025 and without an upgraded KDE of early feb 2025 ] and the present-day one and there are many differences between them... =========================== ldd shows over 120 libraries on which falkon depends. Almost all in /usr/local/lib, some were in qt5 now in qt6, slight chance one or more of them were compiled against a removed security/boringssl which I deleted in order to enable www/falkon to build locally, but which still crashes before start, or, shows a falkon:restore blank page for a few seconds then crashes. and a resinstall might fix the issue, but I have doubts that would work. .................... As falkon ran snappier than firefox does, and plays music which firefox cannot, here, I would like to see the port fixed. ............... I cannot remove qt5 to try to fix things, as it enalbes otter-browser which still runs youtube and I utilize thus daily. .... If a new bug should be filed this post may make me aware, and whether I should post it here or, at kde.org or falkon.org or one of its forum(s) though as I am not running it under Linux nor under KDE it might get deleted there... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
