You could try keeping X11 off in graphics/cairo and unset ATK_BRIDGE and X11 in gtk30 and rebuild gtk30 as an alternative. Not a guarantee that's going to work, but at least we've discovered the main issue. Things do get kind of murky when the default settings are changed because it's too difficult and time consuming to test every configuration.
