Of course, most users only end up using a small subset of packages, but those packages also vary from user to user. It wouldn't bother me if x11/kde was more on the minimalistic side, but since KDE is a very attractive option for newer users looking for a familiar experience, I think having a one line solution to "sample the wares" is valuable. I agree that more niche software like math/cantor, for example, should be excluded. The KDE software catalog has obviously ballooned since KDE 3.x, but I was just suggesting a minimalist kde port to satisfy the requirements of the DVD ISOs. I believe that's what x11/kde-lite was originally intended for when KDE3 stopped fitting onto the CD ISOs. It's just unclear to me how much needs to be trimmed down. -Jason
