Re-opening this as I've been seeing this exact same failure for quite a while.
I've tried updating kstars several times over the last year or so and thought
this was a "just me" situation being on -CURRENT. Builds always succeeded, but
runtime resulted in just this. This still persists even in version 3.7.4 and
after deleting the configuration directories just to be sure
(/home/$user/.config/kstars and /home/$user/.local/share/kstars).
Last known good state for me was kstars-3.6.6 with Qt 5.15.8 when I last
updated it. I'm thinking there was an incompatible change introduced in Qt
5.15.9 or later (in the ports tree we skipped 5.15.9 and went to 5.15.10).
Haven't thought too much on this port after that since no PRs have come in
until this one.
