You are right, the '/usr/ports/sysutils/etc_os-release' would generate that /usr/local/etc/os-release file correctly, which has the same contents of /etc/os-release generated by make install the 12.2 world. I do not what's the point for that port, and still make me confused when and why kinfocenter read that file instead of /etc/os-release.
