Plasma 5 digital clock widget displays pop-up calendar with the weeks starting on Monday

This started in the past month or so on my laptop. I've tried regional settings 
"Default (C)" and "United States (en_US)" to no avail. Does anyone know why 
this has happened or how to fix it (i.e. start weeks on Sunday)?
