STABLE here, I think mostly built last week. That seems stable enough.
Do you have a funky vt setup? I think sddm *specifically* wants vt 9 (7 on
Linux, and we patch that).
I am using sddm-0.17.0_2 on FreeBSD 12.0-ALPHA8 r339047. No odd vt
setup, it runs on vt 9.
