I think I found the problem. Can you please run qdbusviewer and check property LidIsPresent of org.freedesktop.UPower (like in the following screenshot)? http://wstaw.org/m/2013/01/23/plasma-desktopK43402.png If it returns false, then it's not possible for KDE to react to lid closing. The check was added in KDE SC 4.8: https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kde- workspace/repository/revisions/2cd3ae89884878a5ca263183e77ec8fae7659986 I'll try to take care of this in the next months.
