Reinstalled from the newly built port, and all seems well. I don't know if it's related or not, but the problems I was having running certain apps (ktorrent, for one) seem to have cleared up. I managed to boot into the Plasma (failsafe) desktop, tweaked a few settings, and things are working much better overall now (after logging out and back in to the normal Plasma desktop).
