it looks like several users are trying to build kde 4.7 from area51, and they keep facing obvious errors. i'd like to maintain a list of what's working and what's not, and a rough howto to solve those errors, but first:
THIS IS NOT A CALL FOR TESTS i'm not encouraging people to test kde 4.7 from area51 (not yet), i just want to help those of you who are brave enough to have already started if any of you has something to add to the thread, feel free to write and help. part of these instructions will eventually end up in UPDATING before the CFT first thing first: CONFLICTS were not yet updated, but i'll try to list those i remember kdehier - works, but requires hacking before updating: # mv /usr/local/kde4/share/dbus-1/services/* /usr/local/share/dbus-1/services/ # mv /usr/local/kde4/share/dbus-1/system-services/* /usr/local/share/dbus-1/system-services/ kdelibs - works kdebase/kde-baseapps - works. uninstall kdebase before installing kde- baseapps. a normal update will not work because of CONFLICTS with konsole and kate ports konsole, kate - work. uninstall kdebase before installing (they are optional dependencies of kde-baseapps anyway) kdebase-workspace/kde-workspace - works. `portmaster -o x11/kde4- workspace kdebase-workspace` should work kdebase-runtime/kde-runtime - works. `portmaster -o x11/kde4- runtime kdebase-runtime` should work kdepimlibs - works kdepim(-runtime) - work. they default to 4.4.11.1. if you want to test 4.7 (it won't go to ports along with kde) you need to `kdemerge -m` AFTER `kdemerge -k` kdeutils, kdemultimedia, kdenetwork, kdeartwork, kdesdk, kdeaccessibility, kde-wallpapers, marble - work ktts/jovie - works. `portmaster -o accessibility/jovie ktts` should work. it's a dependency of kdeaccessibility kdeadmin, kdegames, kdetoys - untested kdeplasma-addons, kdegraphics, kdeedu, kdebindings (any), kdeutils- printer-applet, kdewebdev, kdeplasma-scriptengines (any) - don't work again, i'm not encouraging anyone, nor i'm taking any responsibility for issues you might get due to wrong instructions good luck! -- Alberto Villa, FreeBSD committer <avi...@freebsd.org> http://people.FreeBSD.org/~avilla Political history is far too criminal a subject to be a fit thing to teach children. -- W.
