No. I figured MySQL AB (now Sun) would be most qualified to decide whether the patch introduced more problems than it fixed. So I wanted to see what kind of feedback the bug gets in MySQL's bug tracker. Unfortunately, it looks like there has been no response so far. From the related OpenSUSE and Fedora bug reports I gather that both have gone ahead and applied the patch. I guess you are right - it is time to file a FreeBSD pr against the MySQL ports.
