As another data point, I've noticed random hangs in my personal tinderboxes which run with only 2 CPUs each. I had it happen last night while running a build of audio/amarok-kde4, which is the first time I've seen it happen on a port outside of the standard KDE4 packages. I haven't had time to troubleshoot it at all though.
