Hi,

I don't have sound support on KDE4 (fresh built machine).

When I play a video with the dragon player or music with Juk or try to use
notifications in Kopete or play some KDE4 games, I don't have sound. Playing
videos with vlc (UNIX OSS audio output on /dev/dsp1.0) or xine
(audio.device.oss_device_name:/dev/dsp, audio.device.oss_device_number:1,
audio.device.oss_mixer_number:1) or "cat soundfile.wav > /dev/dsp1.0" works
just fine (the cat on /dev/dsp doesn't). I can even control the volume with the
KDE4 mixer, so KDE4 seems to access my sound devices in some way.

This are my sound devices (cat /dev/sndstat):

FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm: 64bit 2007061600/amd64)
Installed devices:
pcm0: <HDA ATI R6xx HDMI PCM #0 Digital> at cad 0 nid 1 on hdac0 kld snd_hda
[MPSAFE] (1p:3v/0r:0v channels default)
pcm1: <HDA IDT 92HD73C1 PCM #0 Analog> at cad 0 nid 1 on hdac1 kld snd_hda
[MPSAFE] (1p:1v/1r:1v channels duplex)
pcm2: <HDA IDT 92HD73C1 PCM #1 Analog> at cad 0 nid 1 on hdac1 kld snd_hda
[MPSAFE] (1p:1v/1r:1v channels duplex)

I have three entries at the KDE4 Multimedia System Settings (in this order) and
already tried to reorder them with no success:
snd_hda [MPSAFE] (1p:1v/1r:1v channels duplex) (HDA IDT 92HD73C1 PCM #0 Analog
(pcm))
snd_hda [MPSAFE] (1p:1v/1r:1v channels duplex) (HDA IDT 92HD73C1 PCM #1 Analog
(pcm))
snd_hda [MPSAFE] (1p:1v/0r:0v channels default) (HDA ATI R600 HDMI PCM #1
Analog (pcm))

I use xine as backend for KDE4.

Does anybody have an idea how I can fix my problem? Is there a xine backend
config file for KDE4 (additional config in phonondevicesrc)?

Thomas
