Hi List, I think I have a problem with hal(d) and k3b (version 1.0 from ports) : my whole system freezes when starting up k3b. I get the splash screen and then it all stops and a ctrl-alt-del is the only way out.
I'm using 6.2-stable, kde 3.5.6 with hal enabled in kdebase, I've added the 3 necessary lines to /etc/rc.conf to enable hald, dbus and polkitd, I've added the user to the operator group, commented out the lines in /etc/fstab to mount any removable media (except the floppy) and I have added the "vfs.usermount=1" to /etc/sysctl.conf. Further reading of http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/docs/faq2.html#q19 and /usr/ports/UPDATING-20061219 doesn't seem to bring any new elements to what I have missed. >From my dmesg : ... acd0: DVDROM <IDE DVD-ROM 16X/VER 7.92> at ata0-slave UDMA33 acd1: DVDR <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D/1.21> at ata1-master UDMA33 acd0: FAILURE - INQUIRY ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x24 ascq=0x00 acd0: FAILURE - INQUIRY ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x24 ascq=0x00 acd1: FAILURE - INQUIRY ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x24 ascq=0x00 sks=0x48 0x00 0x01 acd1: FAILURE - INQUIRY ILLEGAL REQUEST asc=0x24 ascq=0x00 sks=0x48 0x00 0x01 ... cd0 at ata0 bus 0 target 1 lun 0 cd0: <IDE DVD-ROM 16X 7.92> Removable CD-ROM SCSI-0 device cd0: 33.000MB/s transfers cd0: Attempt to query device size failed: NOT READY, Medium not present ... cd1 at ata1 bus 0 target 0 lun 0 cd1: <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D 1.21> Removable CD-ROM SCSI-0 device cd1: 33.000MB/s transfers cd1: Attempt to query device size failed: NOT READY, Medium not present ...
