G'day,

Settings→Keyboard→Shortcuts

Issues

======

The page talks introduces ‘Standard shortcuts’

 *

    “Standard shortcuts”refer to actions that are often available in
    applications, such as Save, Print, Copyetc.

And tells you how to navigate using the search feature:

        Standard Shortcuts page

At the top of this dialog you see an input box, where you can search interactively for shortcut names (e.g.Copy) or combination of keys (e.g.“*|Ctrl+C|*”) by typing them literally here.

Below the search box you can see a list of key bindings,i.e.associations between actions (e.g.Copy) shown in theActioncolumn and keys or combination of keys (e.g.*Ctrl*+*C*) shown in theShortcutorAlternatecolumn.

But it does not tell you where to find the Standard Shortcuts Page, what that page can do, what it looks like or how to configure it. I got here from Settings→Keyboard→Shortcuts, is this Standard or Global? How can I tell? The help docs does not answer these questions.

I think the Standard Shortcuts Page is what I'm looking for to remap Copy and Paste to Insert and Alt-Insert on all applications (like what xbindkeys or khotkey used to do) rather than just the KDE which is what is provided by the Shortcuts page in Settings. This is the information that I am looking for in the Help docs.

In contrast, the Global Shortcuts page describes Settings→Keyboard→Shortcuts perfectly.

Improvements

=============

Can we include pictures in the help docs?

Provide instructions on how to find Standard Shortcuts page, if it is not deprecated. Do you mean <C-Alt-,> in apps like Konsole or Dolphin? There needs to be a sentence stating this.

Cheers,

Jack Harrington
