Thank you, Yuri!
Your instructions worked!
I will try to document this and post it to the KDE Contributions forum for the translation team, attributing your instructions. I know you have more important issues to address.
I will also answer my own post where you found my question.
I appreciate your help, Yuri. Thank you for supporting KDE.

Best regards,
Henry

There is no documentation regarding loading a layout created with the Board
Editor. The KMahjongg game layouts available in the
"Settings|Configure...|Board Layout" menu are stored in a system folder, so
new layouts must be stored under $HOME. Even if you create a desktop file
for your custom layout and root installs it in
/usr/share/kmahjonng/layouts, the Board Layout menu does not list the new
layout. What good is that? You can create new layouts, but can never play
them. Is that a KMahonng issue or a documentation issue?
Hi,

Yes, the Board Editor is undocumented. Can you try to install to ~/.local/
share/kmahjongg/layouts ? Every layout should have its .desktop file to be
shown in menu (screenshot of the configuration screen with a test layout is
attached). This desktop file should be created separately in your favorite
text editor.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Yuri
