Maybe someone's interested... I tried version 25, same problem, went back to 
24.12. 
After all, I found a workaround: I could delete the entry from the file 
~/.config/emailidentities manually and everything seems to work. Maybe just a 
local problem, I will keep my eyes open... Will report it if it comes back / 
persists...
