I agree using DBus is not great, but it's not an easy change to make
and we have a total of zero developers on those platforms.

Hi,
sure, I understand that.
I ensured now with a lengthy patch series that at least per default
our Frameworks will not pick up DBus there, that means it is no issue
to have the DBus stuff around for applications that need it without
'infection' applications that don't need it.
