Maybe just use the Comment= field of .desktop files as description,
smart l10n tools will then just allow you to copy the information.
It is also worth noting that a missing name/summary will not
immediately break things, it might do so in future though - adding
these fields is basically future-proofing the metainfo files.
(so far, metainfo files for desktop-application components were the
only files having no requirement for a name/summary, which is very
annoying in some cases, especially for 3rd-parties who want to get all
important data about a software component from the metainfo file
without also having to read another file and merging two data
sources).

In any case, this is an easy thing to fix (only unfortunate that the
warning appeared on the CI after string freeze)
