I've never used it but a quick look at the headers tells me. Use http://api.kde.org/frameworks-api/frameworks5-apidocs/kfilemetadata/html/classKFileMetaData_1_1ExtractorCollection.html to get a list of extractors for the mime you want. Then call Extractor::extract (this class would need documenting, Vishesh?) And then you're done?
