I agree - there is a lot of misunderstanding. That's why I think that
if we can come up with a simple acknowledgement (that's why I
suggested something boilerplate) some of the misunderstanding can be
avoided.

Devs don't want to spend valuable time explaining time of after time
why they can't do something, whether it coding/design practicalities
or just time. I really think it is possible to improve this situation
without putting a huge overhead on devs, and at the same time removing
the debilitating effect of constant complaints.

I wish I could. Perhaps one of my perl or python friends could do
something. I'll talk to them.

I understand that. That's why I want you to be able to simply tick a
box, for the most appropriate reply, and the message to be generated
automatically. It simply won't work if it's more complicated than
that. Do remember, though, that the wishes passed on by brainstorm
mods are only those that not only have a popular vote, but more
importantly, are deemed by mods (themselves mostly coders) as worth
showing to you. The majority of wishes on brainstorm never get past
the starting post - which naturally means you don't get them appearing
in b.k.o. :-)

If it can't be done efficiently it's not going to be done at all -
which is where we are at the moment.
