The "disable mousepad while typing" is a poor substitute, as erroneous inputs are still made if you just pause typing for a second. When there is a mouse plugged in, the touchpad becomes a liability and there should be a way to disable it. As mentioned before, this is a feature that used to be present in KDE, and actively was used.
